O’Connell Secondary School, Dublin1

O’Connell School

To all our readers, let me bid you a Céad Míle Fáilte to the O’Connell Secondary School website. The 2018-19 school year marks the 191st anniversary of the school’s foundation in 1828. To fully experience the atmosphere of this busy school in the heart of Dublin’s North Inner City beside Croke Park, we hope that as you browse our website you will, at least, get a flavour of who we are and what we do. It is impossible to capture all that happens in O’Connell Secondary School on this site. However, we think our site gives a glimpse of the wealth of experiences on offer to the students in the school.

It is an honour to introduce myself as the new acting principal at O'Connell Secondary School. I am immensely humbled to have been selected as the new leader of OCS, and have the chance to learn and grow with the school and community as we continue

the work of ensuring bright futures for our students. This community gives us the incredible opportunity to teach and learn from students and families representing so many backgrounds and cultures as they work to develop their multicultural identities and reshape the future. I plan to continue to advocate for meeting the needs of all of our students, building relationships with in the community and working together to create the best outcomes for our students.

As we start our journey into 2018 - 2019 and beyond, I look forward to learning from every member of our school community.  I know that a change is tough, and

remain open to your voice and feedback in this process. Let us take on the new school year with a ‘daring to dream’ outlook. Please do not hesitate to reach out and contact me to share your wisdom, hopes and concerns so we can make this journey better together.

A message from our new Acting Deputy principal

I am delighted to be appointed as the acting Deputy principal in O'Connell School. I look forward to working with Ms Kidney, our new principal, as well as the rest of our staff. Working together, I am confident that we will continue to provide our students with an enriching learning experience in an atmosphere where they can thrive and develop. As assistant principal I will work to support out students academically, socially and emotionally. I strongly believe in the potential of all our students and enjoy watching as they develop into young adults.

I believe in open communication and my door is always open.
