UNDER 15 Soccer Minor League
12th March 2015
O’Connell School | 7 : 0 | St Tiernan’s College
This was a most convincing display from the OCS lads at home to a physically stronger outfit from Dundrum. The underfoot conditions were extremely difficult on a wet and windy day in Clontarf but once again the OCS resolve was to the fore as the lads stormed into the cup semi-final. St Tiernan’s had a number of very good players and the midfield battle was a joy to behold as the OCS lads kept the opposition in check with some fantastic tackling and tracking back. An early goal from the impressive Ade Adebanjo set O’Connells on their way and this was followed by a quick free kick to the net by the busy Troy Parrott. The ever-alert Precious Adenubi added a third before half-time with a neat flick to the net and at this stage the weather deteriorated with a heavy downpour that turned the pitch into a very slippery surface, just like an ice-rink. However the OCS boys brought their ice skates with them and further goals in the second half from young Parrott, Gareth Dowling, captain Conor Darcy and Richard Nugent meant that OCS were through to the last four in the competition.
Kyle Reid was solid in goal, making one fantastic Petr Cech-like save in the second half. Ross Burnett, Cian Macken, Ade Adebanjo and Richard Nugent were very accomplished at the back. Precious Adenubi, Jordan Wynne, Conor Darcy and man-of-the match Leon Murphy were very busy throughout. Up front Troy Parrott and Gareth Dowling worked very hard for the cause. Jonathan Dowdall, Jake Taaffe and Calum Osborne were all used and all three did very well when introduced in the second half.
WELL DONE TO ONE AND ALL!
