UNDER 17 Soccer Cup
October 7th 2014
O’Connell School | 2 : 5 | Patrician College/New Cross College Finglas
Away for our first outing in the Junior Cup this year and hopes were high on our journey to Finglas. The boys from OCS fought well against a solid team from the former Patrician College but lost out on a final score-line of 5-2. An early 2-0 lead was built up by New Cross College but a superb strike from man-of-the-match Adam Kavanagh brought OCS back into the game. A further strike from New Cross put them 3-1 up but once again captain fantastic Adam Kavanagh replied for OCS and the score was 3-2 heading for half-time. A spectacular shot on the OCS goal from 40 yards found the net on the stroke of half-time and there the score remained until the 75th minute when a New Cross College break-away found the target again. Kieran Comerford was brave in goal and the four lads at the back, Dean Murphy, Cian Macken, Craig Fagan and Mark Corcoran were excellent and very solid in the tackle. Across the middle, Leroy Quinn, Jordan McCann, Conor Darcy and Adam Kavanagh gave everything. Up front, Nasser Mossey and Evan Pierce were sharp and always alert for the quick break. Substitutes Tyler Cumberton, Michael Storey, Dylan Kelly and Dylan Gifford were all used today.
