Under 15 Soccer Minor League – Semi-Final 2014-15

UNDER 15 Soccer Minor League Semi-Final

April 15th 2015

O’Connell School | 3 : 1 | Our Lady of Mercy Drimnagh

The stage was set for Mr Hurley and his Under 15 soccer squad in Clontarf. This was it now, the Dublin League Metropolitan semi-final with O’Connells at home (as group winners) against a fancied team from Drimnagh. OCS were quick at the start and set off probing the diamond midfield formation on show from Drimnagh. Some great work in midfield by the busy Conor Darcy and the steely Leon Murphy helped to steady the OCS ship and the skilful Darcy completed a swift move down the middle with a blast to the Drimnagh net in the 20th minute. This was the signal for the boys from North Richmond Street to put this game beyond the reach of the opposition. A quick intercept from the ever-alert Precious Adenubi put O’Connells two up just before half-time and now OCS were in a commanding lead.

A further goal fromman-of-the-match Conor Darcy in the second half really put this game beyond the reach of the Drimnagh boys but they did get in for a headed goal with five minutes left. However it was too late at that stage for a come-back. OCS were victorious and in the final. Kyle Reid was solid in goal and made a number of great blocks when he was called upon. At the back, Cian Macken, Ade Benjamin, Richard Nugent and Ross Burnett were excellent. Across the middle, Conor Darcy, Jordan Wynne, Leon Murphy and Troy Parrott worked hard for the cause. Up front Precious Adenubi and Gareth Gifford were always alert for the quick break. Ryan Corcoran, Jonathan Dowdall, Kevin Cardosa and Jake Taaffe came on in the second half and all played very well. Thanks especially to the team’s manager MR HURLEY for all his hard work, commitment and dedication to the squad.
