November 14, 2025, Former O’Connell Secondary School student Troy Parrott delivered a stunning performance for the Republic of Ireland last night, scoring two incredible goals in a 2–0 victory over Portugal at the Aviva Stadium.
Parrott’s brace not only secured a famous win against one of Europe’s top teams but also kept Ireland’s hopes of qualifying for the 2026 FIFA World Cup alive. His first goal came from a clever finish after pressing the Portuguese defence, and his second was a powerful solo effort just before halftime.
The match was filled with drama, including a red card for Portugal’s Cristiano Ronaldo, but it was Parrott’s composure and brilliance that stole the spotlight.
Troy’s journey from the classrooms and pitches of O’Connell Secondary School to the international stage is a source of pride for our school community. We congratulate him on this incredible achievement and wish him continued success as he inspires the next generation of students and athletes.
Well done, Troy!
Let's take a trip down memory lane.
