Transition Year Students Celebrate Friendships

This year has been a truly unforgettable one for the Transition Year students at O’Connell Secondary School, as they celebrated not only their academic and personal achievements but also the incredible friendships that have blossomed throughout the journey.

A recent highlight was the group’s trip to Achill Island – a defining moment in the year where students stepped outside the classroom and into an environment that fostered adventure, connection, and growth. The trip served as a powerful reminder of what it means to be part of the O’Connell’s spirit – unity, resilience, and camaraderie.

Throughout the year, our students have demonstrated remarkable maturity, creativity, and teamwork. From community initiatives to skill-building workshops, they have embraced every opportunity with enthusiasm. But it is the bonds they have formed – many of which will last a lifetime – that truly define the spirit of this Transition Year.

We would also like to extend our deepest gratitude to our dedicated teachers: Mr. Webster, Mr. Kinsella, Mr. Hogan, and Mr. Whelan. Their unwavering support, tireless work, and belief in each student have been the cornerstone of this year’s success. Their guidance on the Achill Island trip, and throughout the entire programme, created an atmosphere of trust, encouragement, and inspiration.

To all our Transition Year students – congratulations on everything you’ve achieved. You have lived the values of O’Connell Secondary School with pride and passion. The friendships you've formed and the memories you've made are the foundation for even greater things to come.

Here’s to the O’Connell’s spirit – strong, supportive, and unbreakable.
