GAA is an important aspect of life in O'Connells. With Croke Park casting its broad shadow across our school and grounds, it is hard not to feel inspired walking through the front door every morning. Through participation in GAA our students learn about the importance of values such as

- Fair Play
- Respect for themselves & others
- Discipline
It also helps our students to develop skills to help them cope with competition, winning and losing. There is also a huge amount of evidence which show that sport and exercise have a positive effect on physical health, growth and development.
The school has four teams that compete in intersschool GAA competitions:
- Under 18 Gaelic Football
- Under 16 Gaelic Football
- Under 14 Gaelic Football
