We embrace every opportunity to engage our students inside and outside the classroom, so we are fortunate to be located in the center of Dublin City. The world is our oyster for educaitonal opportunities, we have local access to the DART, LUAS, Bus Eireann, Connolly and Heuston Station and Dublin Airport. The importance of taking the students out of the classroom to absorb, interact and be immersed in history, and educational tours, has several learning benefits for our students. The saying “I hear and I forget, I see and I remember, I do and I understand,” provides the backbone to the theory of retaining more information when visually experiencing activities in the chosen environment. It builds relationships, creates life-long friendships and allows students to interact on a personal level.
In our recent past our students have been lucky to travel abroad to Manchester United, Paris, Alton Towers and London. We have also camped overnight in Glendalough, Wicklow and Killarney, Co. Kerry! Our day trips include everything from Maynooth Castle to Climbing Walls. We have visited farms, activity centres, escape rooms, universities, observatories galleries and museums. We have gone on bike rides, runs and walks all over Dublin.
We have been guests at official ceremonies during the 1916 Centenary. We have laid wreaths in the St Stephen's Green Commemoration of 1916 Rising; we were guests at the GPO 1916 Commemoration, we were also key speakers at the opening of the Daniel O'Connell Tower in Glasnevin Cemetery.
